GST Registration is Mandatory For 

  1. Turnover Based: For Business/ Professionals – Having Turnover of  Rs. 20 Lakhs/ Rs. 40 Lakhs as the case may be.
  2. Voluntary Registration: Any person can take GST registration irrespective of it’s business turnover on account of various reasons i.e. to claim Input Tax Credit, to improve the credibility of it’s business etc.

However, following business categories are required to get themselves registered in all circumstances (No threshold Limit)

  • Non-resident Indian (NRI): Where a Non Resident Indian is undertaking any business activity in India then such Non resident Person shall have to take GST Registration in India.
  • Reverse Charge Mechanism: Persons who falls under the category of reverse charge mechanism (RCM) then such Person is require to take GST Registration.
  • E-commerce Sellers: All E-Commerce Sellers of e-Commerce Aggregators are require to take GST Registration.
  • E-commerce aggregators: All E- Commerce Aggregators are required to take GST Registration.
  • Online Portal Outside India: Entities having Online Portal Outside India and are involved in providing online information or database access Indian Visitor then such entity is require to take GST Registration.

Event or Exhibition: Where a person is participating in an event or exhibition in a State where he is not having permanent place of business then such person is required to apply for GST registration under the category of Casual Taxable Person.

Documents Required

  • Documents Required for GST requirement varies for different type of
  • business. Broadly speaking, the required documents include the permanent account number of the individual and/or entity, the address or location proof of the business, Aadhar card, the proof of registration of the business or the certificate of incorporation (if applicable), digital signature, the identity and address proofs of the promoters or directors and a letter of authorisation or board resolution for authorised signatory.
